Join award winning wildlife photographer and North Carolina native, Jennifer Hadley for an unforgettable four-day wildlife photography adventure in Manteo, North Carolina.
The rich ecosystems of the Outer Banks provide an incredible backdrop for capturing stunning images of iconic wildlife. Explore the nearby Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge, one of the best places in the eastern United States to photograph black bears in their natural habitat.ย We’ve timed this tour to coincide with greater chances of seeing bear cub activity.
A focus of this tour will be tracking the critically endangered and red wolf, a rare opportunity that takes a little luck and patience but with your experienced leader, luck will be on your side!
From lush wetlands to maritime forests, this trip offers the chance to photograph a wide variety of birds, mammals, and reptiles, all under the direction of a photographer that has guided in the area for many years.

*Most women travel alone on our tours, we are happy to pair you with a roommate, however if we do not have another participant requesting a double, the single supplement will apply.
About your leader…
Jennifer Hadleyย is an award-winning wildlife photographer based in Raleigh, North Carolina. From the Arctic to Africa, to the last frontier and beyond; she captures unique behavior-based images and film that tells the stories of the worldโs wildlife. She has been featured in international publications and co-produced the award-winning documentary film, โRight of Passageโ, highlighting the plight of the critically endangered red wolves. Additionally, she co-produced a short film called โFor the Love of Red Wolvesโ, which has been introduced into the public school system in childrenโs classrooms throughout North Carolina.
Jennifer was the grand prize winner as well as the Peopleโs Choice winner of the 2022 Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards. She also placed 3rdย in the North American Nature Photography Association Showcase in the same year.
Jennifer is a highly experienced wildlife photography guide in Eastern North Carolina and leads photography workshops in South Africa, Botswana, and Alaska. She loves encouraging others to learn about animals and their behavior while fostering an ethical wildlife photography experience for her clients. Jennifer loves sharing her passion for the outdoors and wildlife with her guests and is committed to helping photographers improve their photography skills based on their own unique aspirations.

Day 1 โ Monday, June 22: Arrival
Your tour leader will meet participants at Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) and accompany the group on the scenic 3.5-hour drive to your accommodation in Manteo. Upon arrival, you’ll have time to settle in and get acquainted before gathering for a welcome dinner and orientation.
Days 2โ4 โ Tuesday to Thursday, June 23โ25: In the Field
Each morning begins with an early departure as we explore the rich biodiversity of Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge and the nearby Pocosin Lakes region. These days will be spent photographing a variety of wildlife, including the regionโs iconic black bears and the elusive red wolf. Our schedule will remain flexible to take advantage of optimal wildlife activity and lighting conditions.
Day 5 โ Friday, June 26: Departure
We’ll make the most of our final morning with a last photographic outing, followed by a group lunch and return transfer to Raleigh-Durham International Airport for evening departures.
