Indian Himalayas
The Himalayas have long been associated with well-being, both physical and spiritual, due to their natural, cultural, and spiritual significance. The majestic beauty of the mountains inspires a deep sense of awe and connection to nature, which has been shown to improve mental health and foster a sense of purpose.
Our journey begins deep in the Shivalik Foothills where we will visit a retreat and engage in yoga, meditation, ayurvedic treatments and nature walks to explore the many species of beautiful birds with your camera. The Indian Himalayas are home to some of the most beautiful birds in the world and are a bird photographers paradise! The pristine forests and trails allow visitors to immerse in the concept of โforest bathing,โ a practice known for itsย calming and restorative effects.
We will then move on to one of the most remote wildlife lodges in Northern Indian forests, Vanghat is an internationally-acclaimedย eco-lodge located on a secluded bank of the Western Ramganga River deep inside Kalagarh Tiger Reserve division ofย the Corbett Tiger Reserve. The place welcomes true nature and wildlife enthusiasts and photographers.ย
Its location, accessible only by a 1.8km cross-country hike or by 4×4 Jeep and then a raft over the Ramganga River,ย and its limited indigenous stone and mud constructions and complete involvement with the community, makes it theย perfect example of sustainability.
Set amidst breathtaking surroundings and home to a wide variety of birds, mammals, and other wildlife, here we will engage in forest walks and photography. The walking safaris offer a one-of-a-kind experience as there is no better way to truly experience the forest than byย walking through it. One will often see and learn more walking on a trail than on a 2-hour game drive.
Next we will move to the famed Corbett Tiger Reserve. For the next few days we will go on two daily game drives through the reserve photographing Tigers, birds and the many other animal species that inhabit the area.ย Evenings can be spent listening to soothing live music.
This is a fifteen day journey designed to rejuvenate your soul and strengthen your connection to the natural world while honing your photography skills with like-minded women.
