Day 1 (July 9th) – Arrival & Transfer to Bonavista

Our adventure begins in St. John’s, where we will meet and depart for the scenic Bonavista Peninsula. Along the way, we’ll enjoy Newfoundland’s beautiful coastal landscapes before arriving in Bonavista.

After dinner, we’ll head out for our first visit with Newfoundland’s famous Atlantic puffins. As the sun begins to set, we’ll enjoy excellent opportunities to observe and photograph these charismatic seabirds as they return to their nesting burrows for the evening.

Day 2 (July 10th)– Puffins of Bonavista

Today is dedicated to one of Newfoundland’s most beloved residents—the Atlantic puffin.

We’ll spend the day exploring local puffin colonies and coastal viewpoints, taking advantage of changing light conditions and wildlife activity throughout the day. Puffins are often remarkably approachable, allowing for wonderful photography and close observation of nesting behavior.

In addition to puffins, keep an eye out for Black Guillemots, Common Murres, Razorbills, and other seabirds that frequent the area.

Day 3 (July 11th) – Whale Watching & Puffins

This morning we’ll head out on a whale watching excursion in search of humpback whales and other marine wildlife that frequent Newfoundland’s rich coastal waters during the summer months.

Humpbacks are particularly common during this season, and sightings often include breaching, tail slapping, and other spectacular behaviors.

Following our whale watching excursion, we’ll return to the puffin colonies for another afternoon of photography and wildlife observation.

Day 4 (July 12th) – Puffins & Transfer to St. Mary’s

We’ll enjoy one final morning with the puffins before departing the Bonavista Peninsula and traveling toward the Avalon Peninsula.

After dinner in the historic town of Placentia, we’ll visit the spectacular cliffs of St. Mary’s Ecological Reserve for an evening session with Northern Gannets and other seabirds. The warm evening light can create exceptional opportunities for photography as birds return to the colony.

Day 5 (July 13th)– St. Mary’s Ecological Reserve

Today we explore one of Newfoundland’s premier wildlife destinations.

St. Mary’s Ecological Reserve hosts tens of thousands of nesting seabirds and is considered one of the most important seabird colonies in North America. We’ll spend the day observing and photographing:

• Northern Gannets
• Common Murres
• Razorbills
• Black-legged Kittiwakes
• Black Guillemots
• Additional seabird species depending on seasonal activity

The reserve’s dramatic cliffs provide outstanding viewing opportunities and breathtaking Atlantic Ocean scenery.

Day 6 (July 14th) – Sunrise Seabirds & Return to St. John’s

Our final morning begins with sunrise at St. Mary’s, when the soft morning light often creates beautiful conditions for photography and wildlife observation.

As we make our way back toward St. John’s, there will be an optional stop at St. Vincent’s Beach, one of Newfoundland’s most celebrated whale watching locations. Depending on seasonal conditions and whale activity, this can provide an additional opportunity to observe humpback whales feeding remarkably close to shore.

We’ll arrive back in St. John’s in the late afternoon, concluding our Newfoundland wildlife adventure. Please make your departing flights after 3:00 pm.
