Join wildlife photographer, Sandy Sharkey on this extraordinary journey into the wildest and most remote region of Vancouver, British Columbia.

Have you seen the breathtaking Netflix documentary Island of the Sea Wolves? Now imagine being there—walking the same beaches, guided by the very experts who made that film possible.  We have procured the same top level guides and scientists that helped to make this film to ensure you have the most incredible adventure possible with the best guides in the business. Vancouver Island is one of the few places where you can encounter coastal wolves, a distinct subspecies of gray wolf that has adapted to life along the shoreline. These wolves rely heavily on marine resources, such as fish, shellfish, and even seals, making their behavior fascinating and photogenic. This is why the area has attracted many film makers.   You will be joining Canadian Wildlife Photographer, Sandy Sharkey who has had the experience of camping with the wolves on Vancouver Island before and she is excited to share this adventure with you. This tour will be guided by Tom McPherson who has been guiding photographers and film makers on Vancouver Island for over twenty years.  Tom’s work has been featured in the Netflix documentary, Island Of The Sea Wolves. You will be in good hands!

Coastal wolves exhibit unique behaviors not commonly seen in other wolf populations, such as swimming between islands and hunting along the shore. This offers rare opportunities to capture distinctive and dynamic images.

Vancouver Island is a haven for wildlife photographers. Discover stunning landscapes brimming with diverse plant and animal life, from majestic sea wolves to lively sea otters. This expedition will take you to secluded spots rarely visited, providing an unparalleled opportunity to connect with nature. Every moment in this unspoiled environment showcases the untamed beauty of the coastal wilderness, making it an ideal setting for capturing breathtaking photographs.

Participants should be ready for a true coastal wilderness camping adventure, embracing the unpredictability of both wildlife and weather. Tenting arrangements may vary based on the location and time of year. The base camp, featuring an 800-square-foot building, often serves as a starting point for excursions. Frequently, wildlife activity is accessible within walking distance, but at times, the wolves guide us to more remote areas where we set up a beach camp.

Weather conditions can range from hot and sunny to cool and rainy—sometimes all in one day. A detailed packing list will be provided to ensure you’re well-prepared.
