Join acclaimed wildlife photographer, Emily Carter for an unforgettable workshop in the natural wonders of Southwest Florida, timed perfectly for the golden light of sunrise and sunset. Over four immersive days, you’ll capture the charismatic burrowing owls of Cape Coral, dramatic sunsets over the Gulf, and the rich biodiversity of Sanibel Island’s famed Ding Darling refuge. Begin each day in the serene stillness of dawn, photographing marshes and mangroves alive with birds, then enjoy relaxing midday breaks and expert-led editing sessions. You’ll even set sail on a dolphin-and-sunset cruise for magical over-water shots. With expert photography instruction, thoughtfully planned outings, delicious local dining, and photo opportunities around every corner, this workshop is a perfect blend of inspiration, instruction, and adventure!

We have rented a beautiful private home in Fort Myers with a swimming pool for this workshop.

About your leader…

Emily J. Carter is an award-winning and published conservation photographer. Her work has been seen in solo artist exhibits, juried art shows, and in published print including magazines, books and newspapers.
She is a seasoned international traveler fluent in English and Spanish. With a corporate background in Human Resources and extensive years in the travel and hospitality industry, she holds a master’s degree in Global Management. Her photographic journey began when she was a teenager and has always enjoyed photography as a way of connecting to the world around her.
Emily’s passion for photography has been shared in a wide variety of nature photography classes in the Metro Washington D.C. area for the past decade. She has juried photography contests and offered presentations through camera clubs and Mid-Atlantic Photo Visions (formally Nature Visions.)
Through her work Nature as Art, she brings a creative interpretation of the natural world, and her images express a sense of serenity with profound stillness and ethereal attributes.

ITINERARY

SOUTHWEST FLORIDA BIRDS – WORKSHOP

Day 1 (Feb 19th)        Group will be picked up at Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) by                                                   your tour leader, time to be determined. Drive to house in Fort Myers and drop                                               luggage.
                                           5:15 p.m. Depart for sunset location 6:23 p.m. sunset – 15 min
                                           7:15 p.m. Dinner then Grocery store run – Salty Papa’s – 20 min
Day 2 (Feb. 20th)     7:00 a.m. Depart for Cape Coral for Burrowing Owls. Breakfast at House
                                          11:00 a.m. Return to house for midday break and lunch.
                                          5:00 p.m. Depart for Dolphin & Sunset cruise.
                                          7:00 p.m. Cruise returns, dinner out as a group or back at house.
Day 3 (Feb. 21st)       5:45 a.m. Depart for sunrise on Sanibel Island. Box breakfast.
                                          Baileys Marsh, Ding Darling, Pond Apple Trail.
                                          Midday Break / Photo Editing session.
                                          4:00 p.m. Depart for Cape Coral Burrowing Owls.
Day 4 (Feb. 22nd)     5:45 a.m. Depart for Sunrise on Fort Myers Beach.
                                          8:00 a.m. Breakfast at Sunflower Café. Return to house for check out
                                          Noon Workshop end.  Drop off at airport (RSW) for return flights.
